Good experience. Just ignore the signs and walk in. At 17:30-18:00 the fishermen come with the catch and sell it to businessmen. 6000 EUR deposit to get authorized as a company and big in the auction, but you can just negotiate outside and get some fish for real cheap.

The Lonja de Estepona (fish market of Estepona) is one of the largest and most important fish markets of Andalucía due to its proximity to the Strait of Gibraltar. These waters have always been blessed with lots of sea life and Estepona has been known for centuries for being a fishermens town. It is run by the Cofradía de Pescadores de Estepona (Fishermen's Guild of Estepona) since its first opened its doors in 1949. Unfortunately not everyone can go in and purchase fish. In order to be able to purchase fish from the Estepona fish market you have to have a business, sign up and be accepted. The fish sold at the Lonja de Estepona is bought by local bars, restaurants and supermarkets, but some of it is also sold along the Malaga Province and throught Spain.

Lonja de Estepona - the Estepona wholesale fisharket. This is the heart of a major industry in Estepona, and the reason that you eat so well! A traditional fishing port for centuries, Estepona is still a major fishing town, and refrigerated lorries come from all over to collect the catch. You can watch the fishing boats coming in, followed by a flock of hopeful seagulls. The fish shops in town sell the freshest of fish (but they are closed on Mondays as there is no fishing on Sundays so no fresh fish for them to buy at the wholesale market). Buy the fish, or try the fish in the local restaurants. Delicious! .
