Recommended to join their tour (air-conditioned during summer) to understand more about Cadiz in addition to appreciating the view from the top. Informative and interesting. And needless to say, the view is simply breathtaking! Well worth the effort to climb the stairs.

Tavira Tower is the official watchtower of Cádiz, named for Don Antonio Tavira who was the first watchman of the 1700s observation tower. Its 'official' status was due to the fact that it is situated in the centre of town and was also the highest point in the town back then at 45 metres above the sea level. Italian explorer Christopher Columbus made his second voyage to the New World in setting out from Cádiz on 24-Sep-1493.

Definitely a place to visit if you wanna see all the city in 360 and also hear the history of each historical buildings observing it in the dark room. The dark room experience is incredible!

A very pleasant surprise. I visited here based on a friend's recommendation. The entry fee was 6 Euro. I was directed to meet the tour guide in Hall 1. There were quite a few stairs but you can rest on the landings and admire the art and historic photos. A guide took a group into the camera obscura and gave a very good presentation. My tour was in Spanish and English. The details and over view were superb. After the tour we were free to wander, including the terrace with the best views in old Cadiz. There are clean restrooms down stairs.
