Wake Up Genève

One of the best tabernas of cordoba. Traditional, popular and excellent food.

Originally create as a wine bodega, they produce and sell their own wine from white to local varieties (fino, oloroso, ...) to enjoy on table. Restaurant side focalized in local dishes as well bacalao (cod fish) as principal ingredient. Charming patio and very friendly staff. A piece of Córdoba history and a must to visit.

The taberna has an old world charm. Waiters are older and slightly grumpy but do their job. Food? That’s another story. Lonely planet and other reviewers recommended the seafood salad. I should have stuck to observing the principle of only eating seafood near the sea. The salad came With fake crabmeat and hardly any other seafood.

We went for breakfast and haven't been used to how some restaurants work, not having a menu, just a simple few items to get. We tried communicating but the waiter didn't speak any English and we don't know enough Spanish. We eventually got some toast with tomato and jamon which was good, it just took some work. It was very inexpensive for how good it was though. Service was a 3, atmosphere 4, food 4, I'll give it a 4 because most places don't speak much English we find, makes sense, were in Spain, not the US
