Beautiful beach and many places to eat and drink. A nice little town too and its on the very good tram line from Alicante to Benidorm

This is the main town beach, a long stretch of well-maintained golden sand. The whole length is quite shallow so good for children, although play facilities and sunned hire are mostly at the wider northern end of the beach, by the port. In Summer there are inflatables moored in the sea, a wheelchair accessible area, and even a beach library! Games for the slightly older - Volleyball nets, beach gym equipment etc. - are mostly towards the southern end of the beach as (in Summer) is the pedalo hire. Being El Campello, almost all the beach users are locals, together with the town's small (by Costa Blanca standards!) north European expat community plus the few tourists that step off the tram from Benidorm. There is almost zero body consciousness, with beach-goers ranging in age from 0 to 100. Sundays are particularly family-oriented, with all generations of a Spanish family eating lunch and drinking together. There are no problems for those who don't bring their own refreshments - the paseo behind the beach is full of bars, cafés and restaurants. The beach is so large that it is rare for any of it to be crowded, although the southern end tends to be quieter. While dogs are not permitted any time of the year, there is a small pebbly dog beach (playa can) at the far southern end, where the (mostly) dry river creek meets the sea.
