If you really want to get the full Volcano experience you should go to the Auvergne region in France (only 6 hours drive away). When you grew up in the volcanos, the garroxta park feels like a scam

If you really want to experience Catalunya, not just the big city mirage of Barcelona, this is one of the palces where you must go. It has a great area of volcanoes and a forest. You can fly with hot air balloons, do segway tours of the volcanoes and hiking.

Black volcanic rock to see. A church at the top and stations of the cross as brick columns around the walking path at the top. Nice views outward. The crater itself is just a sunken grassy field.
