UNESCO World heritage site first Sunday of each month free entry. Great way to learn about Gaudi's modernist architectural style with audiovisual commentary. Nice views from roof terrace. Enjoyed listening to organ. Close to Las Ramblas.
Nice palace and reasonable price for family
The Palau Güell is a must see in Barcelona. This impressive mansion was designed by Antoni Gaudí and completed in 1890 for Eusebi Güell; a super rich industrialist (worth 70 billion in today's money). There are eight floors to explore including the basement, music room, bedrooms and the roof. Everywhere can be seen how Gaudí incorporated solutions into the design and used brick, wood, ceramic, wrought iron, and stained glass as decorations. The roof is topped off with a terrace offering a panoramic view of the city and gives a final taste of Gaudí. The home was donated to the Barcelona Provincial Council in 1945 and became a UNESCO heritage site in 1984. There's a 12 entrance fee which includes a portable audio guide. There are lockers located on the ground floor opposite the gift shop.
