The company was founded by Duncan Foord and Nick Rawlinson, with the ambition of creating a place where students, teachers, trainers and admin staff felt happy working and learning. For us that means helping people to focus on their aims and enjoy the experience of achieving them. Creating an atmosphere of open communication, support and willingness to try out new ideas helps us feel confident about supporting trainee teachers and language learners in the challenging and exciting endeavor of learning languages and learning to teach them. There are now around 80 teachers and trainers working in Oxford TEFL Barcelona (opened in 1998) and Oxford TEFL Prague (opened in 2003) and around 60 working in our partners schools in Kerala, London, Malaga and Cadiz. Our team has grown too and includes leading ELT professionals, trainers and writers.

I first took a course with Oxford TEFL in September 2012, when I took the Trinity College London CertTESOL with them in Prague. I had a great experience, and, when looking to get back into English teaching, I decided to take the Teaching Online certificate, which I have just completed in December 2020. From speaking to Fran Austin, I was given the information I needed to consider taking the course, and was not rushed into a decision at all. I found the course excellent value, with three one-to-one sessions with my tutor, Ollie Wood, who was always in touch throughout the course, and took my individual needs into account. I would highly recommend Oxford TEFL for both initial teacher training, and development courses, and I am likely to continue to use their services!
