I did with Sergio my AIDA course at the age of 42 and trained for two weeks with him thereafter until I had to leave Lanzarote. Sergio is without doubt extremely experienced and savvy. Now, back home, I have been watching some videos of Umberto Pelizzari and understand that much of his tuition is inspired by him. In fact he was trained by Umberto himself and that explains his approach which he now passes on. He will not overload you with information but rather first try to understand you and then secondly step-by-step guide you tailor-made to improve with what you specifically need to know at your stage. After each immersion you discuss briefly, so that you can work there right on the spot. As you progress and new sensations or points arise, you will work on those as they come-up. However, if you ask him, he is able to tell you details from biology, technical aspects, safety, etc. beyond what you need to know at your particular level. I enjoyed that a lot. An important fact to know is that Sergio works with Elite divers and has been in competition himself. Additionally he worked for many years as safety diver for athletes during and off competitions and hence you can rest assured that from a safety aspect, you are in very good hands irrespective of the depth you are going. That alone is already a big plus and sets him apart from many instructors. On the downside we faced restrictions due to the pandemic, so the pool and theory sessions where not in an optimal condition which was not really Sergio’s fault. I saw students after me enjoying a more tranquil setting as Lanzarote moved from Level 4 to 2, so you will be fine I guess. In any case I am glad and grateful, that we could do the course and training despite the pandemic. Little tip aside: his partner Cristina is a fantastic underwater photographer and if you ask and she has time, she might be willing to take some pictures of you as a memory.

If you want to freedive on the canarian islands, go to Lanzarote and train with Sergio! Not only is Sergio most likely the most experienced and accomplished freediver on the islands. Training was also a lot of fun. I went pretty much every day. The whole ritual of meeting up in a nice sports centre with pool and coffee shop, then going to the ocean together, diving for an hour or two and then having a drink and a sandwich at the centre was REALLY cool! I can only highly recommend Ocean Freediving Lanzarote (and of course Sergio as the Instructor). I have dived with Sergio many times over 2 holidays and have always enjoyed his calm, knowledgeable and friendly manner and will definitely come back for more :)

Very good experience. Staff high level professional and friendly. The freediving conditions are one of the best in Europe (calm zone, very good visibility, no current...). On top of that with Sergio I had Equalization courses which helped me to understand my mistakes and provided me the right exercises to solve them. Free access to all Fariones center facilities (swimming pool, gym,jacuzzi, sauna...) is a great gift to feel relax and enjoy Holliday. Thank you Ocean Freediving Lanzarote and see you soon

I did the Freediving Experience with Sergio & I really loved it!! Before going in the water Sergio gives a very good explanation of the things you need to know & really takes the time to practice the right breathing technique, so that once you get into the water you feel calm & confident. All gear is high quality & new. I loved the wetsuit that kept me deliciously warm throughout the whole diving practice! :-) I had to re-learn how to equalize & Sergio was patient & great at helping me with that. I got very excited when I got deeper into the water! 100% recommendable: it's fun & Sergio is a great & very pleasant instructor!
