MUMI Museo de la Minería y de la Industria in Asturia was heavily featured on worldwide TV on Sunday 1st November when the Vuelta a Espana 2020 stage 12 swept through, en route to the high mountains. The main MUMI Museum building features a tower with a lift that connects with a full-scale reproduction of a mine with real equipment. There's also a permanent exhibition of the history of mining in Europe from the Steam Age through to the period of maximum industrialisation in the Asturias Region.

Must see than you are in Asturias. You can visit a real mine! A lot of wonderful machinery. My daughters spent wonderful time there. Very interesting exhibitions

An impressive and much deserved tribute to the Astorian miners

World class museum about the history of mining in Asturias and in general. The tour of a "mine" below the building is very well done and conveys a great sense of the working conditions and technology. Also has a great exhibition on the history of explosives and chemistry as well as sections on medicine, scientific instruments etc. We spent 3h here - definitely worth a visit!

This is an interesting tour that gives you the opportunity to learn about the mining history in Asturias, mostly from the miners point of view.

A wonderful industrial museum with a few pieces of larger equipment outside. The large hall has exhibits and restored equipment covering mining from the middle ages through the 20th century. Not to be missed is the guided underground tour with stops showing the working lives of mine workers. Included is a ride on a mine train. Also included is a large exhibit about explosives including the production of nitroglycerin and dynamite and another of medical and dental tools used to treat miners in the early 20th century. A great place to visit with kids. Allow a minimum of two hours - you can easily spend more. Free parking.
