We had an absolutely incredible 5 night stay at hotel Katxi. Nestled in a small town close to Morga, the hotel is the definition of calm and is surrounded by the green hills of urdaibai. It had character, tradition, modernity, and a location that allowed for a multitude of options. We stayed in the 'lolita' room, which was tastefully decorated and probably had the largest bed I have ever slept in. The best thing about the hotel however is not the actual hotel, but our host who could not have been kinder or more thoughtful. Highly recommended. The restaurant above is also delicious and we ate there 3 out of 5 nights.

Authentic basque food in the middle of a beautiful valley. Fish (monkfish or cod) with some local appetizers (clams, croquettes) is best combo for lunch or dinner. Try to book table in advance otherwise waiting time in the weekends can go up to an hour. If that is the case, walk around while your table is ready, since the area is full of nice Basque rural houses! Service is good and polite. Oh, and make sure your server is a guy called Karmelo (?), really funny dude with great food recommendations. Enjoy the food and views!
