This statue stands in tribute to Manuel Gutiérrez, the Marquess del Duero and a Spanish general during the Carlist War of succession to the Spanish throne. His is honoured for his victories that eventually lead to the defeat of the rebellion and restoration of the Bourbons to the Spanish throne. This monument is an equestrian statue and depicts Marquess del Duero on horseback (obviously). That's about all I can say about it since the statue sits in the middle of a busy roundabout and I just didn't feel like getting run over for a better view, especially for someone who is likely unknown outside of Spain. Nothing wrong with the statue, but I wouldn't go out of the way.

Hermoso monumento.
