One of the interesting things to see before or after visiting Prado is the statue of Spanish Old Master, Diego de Velázquez situated in front of the museum, facing Paseo del Prado. Here you will see a bronze statue sculpted by Aniceto Marinas in 1899. The statue is of Velázquez dressed in courtly attire and seated. He is posing with a palette in his left hand, resting upon his leg and with a brush in his right hand. Not an unexpected depiction of Velázquez given his role as the lead artist in the Spanish Royal Court during the early 17th century. This is a nice statue to see, particularly if you are fan of Diego de Velázquez. It is conveniently located and easy to stop by to see before or after your visit to Prado. Note: If you enjoy statues like these, there is also a nice monument to Francisco Goya situated just outside the north entrance to the museum. This monument is also worth finding as part of your Prado visit.

This statue stands in tribute to the great Baroque painter Diego Velazquez, who made countless contributions during the Spanish Golden Age and is located appropriately at the Prado National Museum. The statue depicts Velazquez seated, holding a palette in his left hand and paintbrushes in his right. Well worth seeing this statue, especially when combined with a visit to the Prado,
Another superb sculpture in a country full of amazing historical landmarks.
