This statue stands in tribute to Arsenio Martínez-Campos y Antón, a Spanish officer who distinguished himself in various wars of the late Spanish Empire as well as the part he played in the restoration of the Bourbon dynasty. The statute is located Parque Retiro, amongst the many fine statues, fountains and monuments inside the park. The equestrian statue of Martinez Campo shows him on horseback, wearing his military uniform. The bronze statue sits atop a stone pedestal, on which is inscribed with the date and named of the wars in which he distinguished himself. This statue is worth a look when in Parque Returo.
