Great concept in regards to the seating and decor. I love their fluffy pancakes and cheesecake. The cheesecake would definitely be even better with some fruit for garnishing. The drinks were overwhelmingly sweet though. And it does take quite long to get the pancakes but I didn’t mind as I wasn’t in a hurry.

Hattori Hanzo offers a nice selection of Japanese street food which does not include sushi. Very good service and flavourful takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

Update: Please be aware, it appears the owner is manipulating 5* reviews, if you look at some of the more recent reviews, they are written in his exact tone/style and have only reviewed this restaurant plus coincidentally another related business venture, Panda Patisserie, which you will find on the HH website. The owner has assumed I do not understand Spanish due to my name, this is not only wrong but also incorrect. I have lived in Spain a long time and the only reason my review is in English is that it will be more useful to tourists. Original Review: The waitress looked at us like something unpleasant she found on the bottom of her shoe and then communicated with the same manner from the first moment. We were planning on ordering a lot more as it was a special occasion but after we sat down, we decided it would be best to order a smaller amount in order to leave quicker. She then complained that this was not enough food, even though we weren't asking for her opinion. Quite frankly we lost our appetite. Its a very big shame and looking through other reviews of this restaurant, I can see this is a recurring problem. Considering the situation at present, I would make sure to go above and beyond with any client.

The food was nice, the place was super smoked because of the indoor BBQ (no air circulation)

Shôyu ramen like Japan best shops. Also tried karaage and gyoza, you can feel it is made by hand by the flavor and high quality. Genuine japanese homemade flavor. Waitress speaks english and she was very kind. Izakaya style interior with plenty of wood and japanese 提灯 lanterns. I want to go back soon!

Food is good but pricey for the quality Service was horrendous. The waiter's manners were unprofessional from the time we entered the restaurant.

Food was delicious, white wine was so so During the winter, AVOID THE FIRST TABLE at the entrance, because the door to the outside has to be open the whole time

I was walking in Gran Via, last Tuesday, holiday in Madrid around 4pm, outside the restaurant there was a board offering Ramen, it seemed a wonderful option! After a short wait in the queue, looking for "La Carta", I couldn't find it. We were seated and to our surprise there was no real food at that time, only "merienda". The waitress was very nice, explained the kitchen was closed for hot meals. We apologized and prepared to leave. The ugliness came when a guy asked "what's the problem?" In a very rude way. Embarrassed and hungry we explain we didn't know about the kitchen and decided to leave. Not before he shouted to put the mask on ( I was looking for it, and hurrying to leave the place). The rudeness still bothers me there days later.
