Don’t be tempted to continue on the main route past Lorca. The castle dominates the hillside and is well worth the visit. It has the most spectacular views and is steeped in thousands of years of history. It also shows evidence of the more recent history of the area, with the visible cracks caused by the 2011 earthquake. There is a good audio guide that you can download onto your phone. The cafe was very reasonably priced and with a reasonable menu. Would definitely recommend. The walk from the car park is quite steep and it’s not very push chair friendly.

Incredible place, pictures do not give it justice... 6 euros per person to walk around the grounds. Cost more to enter the main castle bit. There's a free audio guide app that gives a bit of insight and history on different parts of the castle. Definitely consider checking this out if you're in the area.

If you like historical buildings (like I do), this is a really good place to visit. Loads of information and things to see so you need quite a few hours to get around everything (I didn't manage it). Very helpful staff and caters for tourists very well (suggest you use one of the translation machines they have on offer).

Great place to kill s few hours. Long walk or drive up the mountain road. Nice cafe too and we'll priced. They have English language tours some days.

Exciting driving up and down using a nav system that has no idea about gradients or narrow streets. Lovely hotel, well worth the visit.
