I'm not a zen practitioner (I went to Keiryuji in 2018 to visit my sister who is a long term resident) but I still cherish some of the experiences I had there.... it is recomforting to know that in a world that may seem bleak there are still lots of people with good will, serenity and common sense... and mysterious rivers, happy-crazy dogs and incredibly delicious blueberry cakes!

I stayed here for 7 weeks and witnessed the transformation of nature from winter to spring. What a beautiful and serene place this is. I was here only with the 4 habitants and took part in the Zen practice, while staying in a nice and private cabin on the mountain. The monks and teacher really fit in in this environment being sober, experienced, connected, respectful to all that is and upright and very friendly. They speak spanish, dutch and english. I lost quit some weight because of fasting, walking and eating healthy (no meat). Every day meditating (zazen), chanting, working in the garden, laying in my hammock, swimming in the cold river and looking at nature gave me rest and new insights. It still was a hard time because it was the start of the lockdowns and many Corona deaths in Spain, so fear and letting go were my major themes. I really recommend this place for people who seek quietness, love walking in the mountains and who want to learn (and practice)more about Zen Buddhism. Blending in with the practice is preferable but staying on your own in a cabin of tent is also an option, with the purpose of meditation. I m thankful that I had the opportunity to be here for a while and, I almost forgot, enjoy the two big sweet dogs. Roland from the Netherlands.
