'IMED Hospitales'​ is a group that was set up to develop a network of private hospitals offering high quality, customised health care with cutting edge facilities and equipment, both through ownership and management. The group was born as Hospital de Levante, based in Benidorm and is now known as Hospital IMED Levante. The project was started by a group of businessmen from Alicante, who were later joined by Bancaja (2008) to drive the business project forward. The hospital quickly earned a reputation as a reference for private health care in the north of Alicante and, with yearly increases in its clinical activity indicators, it established itself as a benchmark for private health care throughout the province. As a result of the experience and success of the last few years, IMED Hospitales decided to extend this model to other geographical areas, such as Teulada, Elche, Valencia and Murcia in the first phase. Today IMED Hospitales has 3 hospitals: IMED Levante, IMED Teulada and IMED Elche and within the next years another two will be operational: IMED Valencia and IMED Murcia.
