Carmen was a wonderful teacher, full of knowledge and pizazz. The kitchen is a gorgeous place for cooking and the atmosphere totally encapsulates Barcelona. Though I took this class over a year ago, I’m still reminded about the experience on a regular basis.

After learning of my cousin’s great experience with their paella class last year, I signed up with them on a recent trip to Barcelona. There were about 12 students in my class. I was solo and others came in 2s or 3. Carmen was very friendly and put everyone at ease. The place was beautiful! Dreamy open kitchen loft!! There was a few of us in the group that had never cooked or cut veggies before. But all were able to follow Carmen’s simple instruction. We all got our hands dirty, so to speak, in putting together one big family pan of paella, 2 pitchers of Sangria, and 12 individual servings of crema Catalana (which Spain’s version of creme brûlée). All done from scratch!! After finishing some prep work, like cutting veggies, cleaning mussels, ... etc. we sipped sangria, listening to further instructions and wait for our turns work on the big pan of paella. For each major step, Carmen would demonstrate & then allow us to take over for a few minutes, so everyone got their chance to feel & cook the food. Also, photo ops! Instructions were simple. Carmen would provide insider tips and other frequent substitutes of ingredients . No need to jot anything down cuz the recipes will be sent to us via email. Love that! After the paella is done, we all sat around the table and enjoyed our hard work, chit chat, sip some more sangria. Like a casual family & friends gathering. After paella, it’s desert time! I was very excited to torch & give my first crema Catalana a good brittle caramelized sugar top (like creme brûlée) All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon well spent! Tasty food & made new friends. I highly recommended this foodie experience!

I can’t say enough good things about this class! This is a great activity whether traveling with others or solo. I am traveling alone and there was also another woman traveling by herself. We were a group of ten and Angeles was so warm and welcoming, the instruction was simple and precise, the atmosphere was convivial. Their space and location is amazing. And the food and drink was delicious! I would definitely recommend this to other people visiting Barcelona. Angeles makes you feel at home and is genuinely interested in the participants and also a very interesting person with quite a journey in her life. Great experience!

Carmen is amazing! This cooking class was the highlight of our trip to Barcelona. We had so much fun learning and talking with both Carmen and our classmates. The food was delicious! The class is held in a very central and convenient location in a beautiful kitchen. We used the freshest ingredients while cooking and everyone had a role to fulfill. It was very interactive and we look forward to trying these recipes again soon!

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Barcelona! Carmen was very sweet and incredibly knowledgeable of all of the traditional dishes that we prepared. She even gave us a history lesson on the origin of the Paella - which I definitely appreciated :) Most importantly, I felt like the experience was hands-on yet sanitary. To top it all off, she even gave us some insight into nice restaurants and other places to visit at the end of the class.

Carmen was a fantastic host. You get the feeling that she genuinely cares for her guests. The venue is very central, the setting is beautiful, the kitchen very clean, and spacious. And of course the Paella, Sangria and Catalan Cream all delicious and appetizing. A must if you visit Barcelona!
