Apparently the taco craze has exploded in San Sebastián recently, but Cafe Kursaal was the first in town. Chef Juan is from Mexico City originally but has firm roots in San Sebastián as well. The tacos are outstanding, he sources hard to find ingredients straight from Mexico and they have a charcoal burning oven, which adds an incredible depth of flavor to the dishes. In addition to several outstanding tapas options, they also have a full menu and ample seating, as well as some classic bar-top pintxos. The chef is there behind the bar and is more than happy to geek out about tacos and Mexican ingredients (thanks for putting up with me, chef!) The service is excellent all around, and they even have some great mezcals at the bar, which are virtually impossible to find anywhere else in Spain. Highly recommended, even if you can find tacos back home.

If you love coffee you'll love Café Kursaal! Excellent coffee (some of the best I've ever had), amazing food and wonderful staff. A must visit!

What a wonderful find! Alongside the river, a stones throw from the old town, delicious food at an amazing price. The breakfast here is equal to the one at the fashion café next door but at half the price!! And believe me, I know, I tried both! The lunchtime menu of the day is not only outstanding value but also really delicious. Everything cooked to perfection, neither overcooked not undercooked and the consideration of adding different, home-made sauces for the salmon and the prawns in the same dish was above and beyond. The meat was succulent and tender and all of the deserts home-made and to die for :) The staff meanwhile were attentive, efficient but at the same time very personable with no request too much trouble

Obsessed with this restaurant. Cafe Kursaal is next to the Kursaal emblematic building of San Sebastian. This place is the one I frequent mostly because of the variety of Mexican food. The owner is from Mexico that’s why you can find many delicious dishes 100%, Mexican using original ingredients. This place’s not a Mexican restaurant exactly, all the dishes are traditional but you can find in the menu a Mexican site for all the Mexican food lovers. We used to order Guacamole with totopos for a starter, degustación de tacos (four different tacos Cochinilla Pibil, al pastor, mole, and Camaron), salmon salad, tacos… Also, they have included some typical drinks like Michelada, fresh and delicious.

My girlfriend and I loved it here. In fact, we came here three times during our short stay in San Sebastian! We stumbled upon it when trying to go to Sakona Coffee next door, but it was closed for a few weeks. Instead, we came here and had an excellent scrambled egg breakfast with great coffee and OJ for only 8 euro each. We also came back one night for shrimp tacos and margaritas and they were equally delicious and well-priced. Highly recommend that you check it out if you are craving Mexican while in San Sebastian!
