La Iglesia de Santa Cruz, también llamada Catedral Vieja de Cádiz, es una construcción que data de 1262-1263 y fue reedificada en estilo manierista y barroco en el siglo XVII. Se tiene constancia de que el rey Alfonso X de Castilla, El Sabio, mandó construir la iglesia gótica sobre los restos de una mezquita árabe. Desgraciadamente el edificio gótico fue destruido por las tropas anglo-holandesas que atacaron y saquearon Cádiz en 1596. Conserva, por tanto, poco de su encanto original.
