. . The most interesting thing about this cathedral is the number and size of the weddings. The outside is fairly ordinary, just painted pink and white, and the interior is not of great interest either, just painted white and grey. The nearby church of Our Lady of Africa rather outshines it with its glorious gold-leaf interior. But the weddings! The wedding parties arrive and you are overwhelmed with the elegant outfits of the guests and the flamboyant dress of the bride. You'll see that in Spanish fashion, just as the bride is led to the altar by her father, the groom is led by his mother. And if, as it is fairly often, Ceuta being a military garrison, it's a military wedding, then the swords come out to make an arch of honour as the couple leaves the ceremony. If you are in the Parador it's worth asking for a room with a view of the cathedral front, so you can watch all this in comfort from your balcony. :-) ,
