Paseo marítimo de Barreiros

Loved the North here in Spain. And this section here around Barreiros is nothing short of amazing. Great food, nice friendly locals and a breathtaking landscape. A great and easy thing to do is strolling around this Paseo (Promenade, Boardwalk). Start in Barreiros and just head east. It goes on for miles. Sometimes paved, sometimes on wooden planks. But most of it can also be done with strollers or wheelchairs. Some small parts can be a bit steep for a few meters though. Along the way you will always have the ocean by your side. Lots of benches and picnic places along the Paseo. Even some public restrooms. A few restaurants (with views) as well. And all the time there are some smaller secluded beaches. And even in high season they tend to be pretty empty. So if you look for a hidden gem, a beach to really relax, then this area is for you. Just be aware that the climate here is a bit colder then the rest of the country....and so is the water. It's an easy walk, fits all ages. If you want a longer workout, just keep on walking. For the easy walker just head back any time you get tired. There are free parking lots in Barreiros, just on the field behind the Chiringuita on the Main Street. A good base to start your walk.
