Prior to our trip to Spain, I arranged through Priceline to rent a car from the Hertz agency at the Hotel Hesperia Del Mar in Barcelona for a period of 7 days. On the pickup day we contracted with the Hertz Rep., Ester, to pickup our car. However, the car was so minute we could not fit our luggage in the trunk. Ester offered a slightly larger vehicle for an extra 20 Euros per day and we agreed. Our price with Priceline was 151.00 Euros for the 7 days, plus the extra 20 per day for a larger car. The total then should have been a total of 291Euros for the 7 days. I failed to do my \due Diligence\ and when we arrived in Montserrat that night I read the contract and learned that Ester had drawn up a contract charging us a total of 630.93 Euros for the 7 days. Upon return, I confronted Ester, who was openly hostile and said that I would have to telephone Hertz to discuss this matter. I refused to leave until she resolved same, which she did because of a large number of potential renters lining up behind me and my stubbornness. Hertz tried to \screw\ me, but I blame myself for not carefully reading the contract prior to leaving the Hertz counter. No more booking through Priceline and no Hertz, ever! READ THE CONTRACT CAREFULLY BEFORE DRIVING OFF!!!!!
