AILANTO is a design label established in 1995 in Barcelona. The company is headed by the twin-brother team, IÑAKI MUÑOZ and AITOR MUÑOZ. They were born in Bilbao in 1968. Both have graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona with Iñaki having an additional degree in Fashion Design from IADE College also in Barcelona. In 1995,AILANTO opens towards the national market through Gaudi Barcelona’s Fashion Salon and Cibeles Madrid’s Fashion Salon. Since 1999,they start to open towards the international market through Prêt-a-Porter Paris (Atmosphere), Workshop and Tranoï. The collections have been presented at Pasarela Cibeles (Madrid), at Gaudi Barcelona’s Fashion week and in the last editions back at Pasarela Cibeles in Madrid. Apart from Spain, AILANTO’s collections can be found in the international market, specially in Japan, where they have more than 20 selling points. Ailanto has also been sold in USA, Hong-Kong, Germany, UK, France and Italy in the best boutiques and department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman (NY), Penelope (Brescia), Lane Crawford (Hong-Kong), The Cross (London), August Pfuller (Frankfurt) and Vionnet (Los Angeles). The universe of AILANTO is mainly visual, drawing its features from the combination of colors and geometry of the forms, and on the reference to avant-garde artistic movements such as Bauhaus, Mondrian or Ellsworth Kelly. The stress is on details and finishings: noble materials (linen, silk, wool) that bring the necessary softness to counter-balance an industrial rigidity and an asserted ultra-modern aestheticism. AILANTO collaborates regularly with international and national press. In november 2004 they received the award as “Best Designer” by the Spanish edition of Glamour Magazine.
