I have been travelling to Spain for many years to visit my in-laws and have always rented a car at Almeria airport normally through Hertz or Europcar. We were due to arrive in April 2020 initially but this got cancelled due to COVID and DoYouSpain managed to move my booking to later in the year, with an additional charge for a larger car because they had nothing smaller...Hmm, should have seen that coming. Our second attempt to get to Spain in October was again cancelled as we were sent into lockdown once again so I informed them with a months notice that we would not be able to fly in therefore they can release the car for re-rental. Oh no, that's not possible, you have paid for the rental and if you choose not to pick it up then it's your fault and we'll keep the money. Tried to get the money back via the bank and stated that they had already changed their terms of business once but they will not accept any liability. Frankly they are the most unethical business I have ever dealt with, ripping people off when it is absolutely not our fault if we can not fly into the country. Absolutely no remorse from them and had I known Interrent was GoldCar when I booked through the agent I would not have proceeded anyway. NEVER EVER USE THESE CROOKS - I've heard many stories of extra charges, extortionate additional bills and add on's made by them. They should not be allowed to trade.

DO NOT USE THIS CAR HIRE COMPANY!!! They will rip you off! They will do anything to squeeze more money out you, whether it is legal or not. Spanish Police: You should be investigating this company!
I will never rent from Goldcar or any of it’s subsidiaries such as Rodium and InterRent. I paid for a Ford Focus or similar car and was forced to accept a Fiat 500L. They insisted the Fiat is similar to the Focus. The Fiat being my 7th monthly rental this year, is the worst car I have rented this year. I have to drive this awful vehicle for another 3 weeks and hope they don’t come up with excuses to squeeze more money out of me.
Stay away! Another name for Gold Car and Rhodium who are notorious for bad service. Just rented car from Alicante. When arrived clerk very lovely and chatty. As soon as I said that I didn't want the extra insurance for 239 euros for the week she became very pushy and difficult. I had to refuse the insurance four times as she would not relent on persuading me, making the transaction very uncomfortable. The company then issue a 1500 euro retainer on your credit card if you don't take the insurance and we were charged an additional 511 euros in total for insurance, baby seat and to deposit in different location. On top of original price!
Never had any issues when it was part of Europcar . Now part if Goldcar. Do not use ! They will rip you off by adding extra surcharges eg unwanted insurance. Am in process of trying to get money back from them at mo for unapproved charges , but they keep ignoring my emails. My advice is avoid !!
