I had visited the office for a short period of time while I was on a holiday with my parents. The AFS Team were very friendly and welcoming! They even gave me a few things to remember them by, truly appreciate it!!! Any AFSer should definitely visit the office if they are visiting madrid!

If you can read this, want to live with a US family like a son or daughter and attend a public school, get a degree, tour US make life-long friends, speak fluent English and do all this with a scholarship Contact AFS. Families are selected for their dedication to youth, preace,and receive NO money. Students are selected for their ability to adapt and desire to have the unique experience in an American family and school It changed my life!!!! We hosted a Spanish girl who was like my sister and I spent a summer in 1956 in Spain. I still have friends from those days. I fell in love with Spain, got MA and then a doctorate from UCM, taught Spanish, language, literature, history and art history for 55 years!! My Spanish AFS friends include University professors, physician, home-makers, and many others AFS changed my life and that of all those friends. DON'T PAY BIG BUCKS for this. If someone charges you for the experience it is a business and not an. ONG.

I have already gone in a 10 month program twice, once with another organisation to the US and the second one with AFS to Germany, and I must say that there is no point in coparrison, while with the first organisation I barely had any contact with my tutor working for them or other exange students. With AFS I felt supported all the way, both by coordinators and students. As AFS, organises orientations where students can meet with each other, and talk with the volunteers of their district about their problems, they help you integrate and find yourself at home, up to the point that I felt like a big family with my afs friends and volunteers. It is a truly amazing experience and I sincerely recommend using it if you are thinking of doing an intercultural exange year, which is not the same as a year abroad. #nohatejustlove #afs

Una experiencia inolvidable. Fui en el año 1992-93 a Estados Unidos y cambió mi vida para siempre. Mantengo el contacto con mi familia anfitriona y como voluntario conocí a mi mujer (también antigua participante) Sin duda alguna lo recomiendo y nuestros hijos serán futuros participantes.

Una experiencia única y maravillosa . Hemos mandado a nuestra hija a Nueva Zelanda y ella encantada , feliz ha hecho grandes amigos , la familia de acogida la ha tratado como una hija mas no podemos estar mas agradecidos , en el colegio , con los compañeros y profesores la han ayudado y ha estado perfectamente integrada , tan integrada en la vida del pueblo que si por ella fuera se quedaba mas tiempo. Con AFS todo fenomenal siempre que hemos tenido una duda nos han contestado rápidamente hay normas y son estrictos pero las normas son bastante lógicas ( no beber , no conducir , no irse de viaje sin autorización de las familias , vamos lo normal cuando se trata de adolescentes ) .Totalmente recomendable y muy agradecidos a todos los implicados.
